Edwin Kenneth Dyer, 92, of Benton, Arkansas passed away May 29, 2017. He was born April 30, 1925 in Cadiz, Kentucky to the late Elope King and Mayme Parker Dyer.
Edwin was of the Baptist faith and member at Trinity Baptist Church. He loved the Lord with all his heart and served in many different ministries in younger years. Edwin proudly served in the United States Army as a fire-fighter where he earned the World War II Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. Edwin was a talented wood-worker and taught his craft in industrial arts for thirty-seven years. He created beautiful poster beds, dressers, night stands, secretary desks, and grandfather clocks. Edwin was also a master at the lost art of caning- weaving antique chair seats. He also enjoyed working in his vegetable gardens and tending to his fruit trees. Edwin was a friendly man who had a lot of friends who will miss him always.
Preceding Edwin in death are his parents; and sister, Doris Dyer.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of sixty-eight years, Colene Katherine Dyer of Benton, Arkansas; two sons, Ronald Dyer and wife Mary of Haskell, Arkansas and Dennis Dyer and wife Karen of Greensboro, North Carolina; three grandsons, Steven Dyer and wife Vy, Anthony Dyer, and Benjamin Dyer and wife Katie; brother, Hayden Dyer of Phoenix, Arizona; sister, Lucy Mitchell and husband Thomas of Louisville, Kentucky; and many more family members and friends. Visitation will be held from 9:30 -10:30 AM, Friday, June 2. 2017 at Smith-Benton Funeral Home, 322 N. Market Street, Benton, Arkansas. Funeral service, officiated by Rev. Mike Tittsworth, will follow at 10:30 AM. Burial with military honors will be held at Smith-Rosemont cemetery.
