Floyd LeCroy

Lieutenant Commander Floyd G. LeCroy (USN, retired), died November 15, 2015 at the age of 85. He was born in Magnet Cove, Arkansas to Gordon G. LeCroy and Cynthia (Riggs) LeCroy on August 27, 1930.
After graduating from Benton High School in 1948, Floyd enlisted in the U.S. Navy and rose quickly through the rank as an engineer. To further his military career as an officer, Floyd graduated from the University of Mississippi in 1962 with Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with minors in Physics and Astronomy. In 1969, he graduated from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California, with a Master of Science in Management (Computer Science Option) degree.
After 26 years of military service, Floyd retired and returned to Arkansas where he began a 20 year civilian career as a civil servant with the State of Arkansas. He held various computer support positions with the Department of Pollution Control and Ecology, Department of Energy, and the Department of Education, where he was involved with the Migrant Student Record Transfer System (MSRTS).
Upon retiring, Floyd taught Bible study courses at the First United Methodist Church in Benton and was a volunteer with the Churches Joint Council on Human Needs (CJCOHN) food pantry in Saline County. He was a member of the Congo Masonic Lodge (#743) and the Military Officer's Association. As a life-long learner, Floyd enjoyed having intelligent and lengthy discussions on a wide variety of subjects. His hobbies included woodworking, reading, and tinkering with computers and electronics in his shop.
Floyd is survived by his wife of 65 years, Louise (Cunningham) LeCroy; daughters, Pat Ulrich and husband Steve and Pamela Lambert and husband Gerald; grandchildren, Alyssa Fuller and husband William, Douglas Ulrich and wife Amber, and Jonathan Ulrich; two great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.
Graveside inurnment with military honors will be held at 9:00 AM, Friday, November 20 at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander, Arkansas with memorial celebration at 2:00 PM at Benton First United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a favorite charity or to the Benton First United Methodist Church.
