Fred Wray
Fred Wray, 86, of Benton, Arkansas passed away May 10, 2018. He was born April 2, 1932 in McGhee, Arkansas to the late John and Hannah (Praytor) Wray.
Fred is remembered for serving the veterans in Saline County as our Veteran Service Officer. He proudly served in the United States Army and Navy. His family affectionately refers to him as "Head Duck". Fred's grandchildren were the light of his life. He loved taking his grandson to Taekwondo for ten years, and was so proud when he earned his third-degree black belt. Fred was a charter member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He was also a member of Shriners International. Fred retired and owned Fred Wray Inc. Heat and Air. He also worked at Arkansas Democrat.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Johnny Wray.
Fred leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of forty-eight years, Sue Wray of Benton, Arkansas; daughter, Karen Wray of Little Rock; son, Hank Wray and wife Shannon of Bauxite, Arkansas; three grandchildren: Dalton Cole Wray and wife Tori, Faith Nicole Wray, and Lauren Grace Wray; two sisters: Margaret Ann Roberts and husband Terry of Bryant, Arkansas and Martha Buckelew of Benton, Arkansas; two brothers: Louie Wray and wife Cheryl of El Dorado, Arkansas and Gerald Wray of Benton, Arkansas; sister-in-law, Mary Wray of Benton, Arkansas; special nieces and nephews; and a host of family and friends who love Fred and will miss him always.
Reception visitation will be held from 10:00 AM-11:00 AM, Saturday, May 19 at Smith-Benton Funeral Home, 322 N. Market St., Benton, Arkansas. Memorial service with military honors, officiated by Rev. Brady Lane and eulogy by Danny Harmon, will follow at 11:00 AM.
Memorials may be made to Benton First Church of the Nazarene.
