James Lawrence "Mac" McEntire, Sr., 77, of Hot Springs, Arkansas passed away April 23, 2018. He was born September 21, 1940 in Star City, Arkansas to the late Glenn and Veneer (Phillips) McEntire.
Mac worked with the Cotton Belt-Union Pacific Railroad as a switchman. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. One of Mac's greatest pleasures was coaching Little League Baseball with the Western Little League of Pine Bluff and the Junior Babe Ruth teams since 1981. His family spent most of their summers at the ballpark. Mac also enjoyed watching football.
Mac was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Cameron McEntire.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of forty-five years, Sarah Lynn McEntire of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; children: James "Jimmy" McEntire, Jr., of Haskell, and Shilene Edwards and husband Erik of Pine Bluff; grandchildren: Dillon McEntire, Dalton McEntire, Davis McEntire, Colton Edwards, Conner Edwards, Camden Edwards, Karson McEntire, and Baylor McEntire; aunt, Vertie Zappe; and a host of cousins, family, and friends who love Mac and will miss him always.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM, Wednesday, April 25 at Smith-Benton Funeral Home, 322 N. Market St., Benton, Arkansas. Graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, April 26 at Bellwood Cemetery, 2200-2498 W. Pullen Street in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Visitation will be held graveside from 1:00-2:00 prior to service.
