Bonna Lou Rapp, age 91, of Benton, Arkansas, died Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at the Evergreen Living Center.
Mrs. Rapp was born February 7, 1928, in Cole County near Russellville, Missouri, the daughter of Raymond and Nola Payne. She graduated from Russellville High School and attended college in Warrensburg. She and her family lived in Jefferson City most of her life. Her employment included the Construction Laborer's Welfare Group, Goller and Hedrick Law Firm and the Hancock-Strong Family Clinic from where she retired.
While in Jefferson City, she was a member of the Dix Road Church of Christ (Fairgrounds Road Church of Christ). She moved to Texarkana, Arkansas, in December 2004, to be near family and later moved to the Mt. Carmel Assisted Living in Benton, Arkansas, to be near her granddaughter and caretaker. Recently, she moved to the Evergreen Living Center. She was a member of the Walnut Church of Christ in Texarkana, Texas. She is preceded in death by her husband, James J. Rapp, a daughter, Cheryl Lou Rapp Pope, a granddaughter, Julie Katrina Johnson, an infant sister, Cleora Payne, a brother, Billy G. Payne, a sister in law, Bertha Payne, and a step-grandson, Jason Bland.
In her younger years, she was a Bible school teacher, enjoyed needlework, her flower gardens, and traveling extensively with her husband.
Survivors include two granddaughters; Martina (Matthew) Welch and their children, Emma, Garrett, and Toby of Norton, Massachusetts, Tanya Morey (Matthew) and their children, Owen and Lillian, of Benton, Arkansas, a son-in-law; David Pope of Shreveport, Louisiana, two step granddaughters; Jennifer Bland of Shreveport, Louisiana, and her daughters, Caroline and Hannah and Laura (Gregg) Stull and their daughter, Elizabeth, of Coldwater, Mississippi. Survivors from Jefferson City include one brother; Roger Cletis Payne and one sister; Judy (Frank) Stephens, two sisters-in-law; Betty (Paul) Volkmer, Elsie Strope and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
A memorial service will be held at the Fairgrounds Road Church of Christ at a later date with burial at Riverview Cemetery, Jefferson City.
