Gordon Andrew Beard, Sr., 70, of Traskwood, Arkansas passed away August 17, 2018. He was born July 4, 1948 in Malvern, Arkansas to the late David R. and Elsie (Mays) Beard.
Gordon worked in the recycling business and was the owner of Junkyard Dogs. Gordon loved to gamble and play poker with friends. He was always willing to help others. Family and friends remember Gordon cutting up and being a jokester. He had a great sense of humor and shared it with everyone he knew.
Gordon was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Noel L. Beard; and sister, Katherine Sutton.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of over thirty years, Shirley Beard of Traskwood, Arkansas; sons: Ronnie Beard and wife Holly of Bryant, Arkansas, Bill Beard and wife Lila of Benton, Arkansas, and Andy Beard and wife Maria of Haskell, Arkansas; eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; sisters: Linda Sanchez and husband Pete of Benton, Arkansas, Mildred Squires and husband James of Alexander, Arkansas, Pat Squires and husband Ronnie of Atlanta, Georgia, and Margaret Chaney of Salem, Arkansas; and a host of family and friends who love Gordon and will miss him always.
Reception visitation held from 5:00-6:00 PM, Thursday, August 23, at Smith-Benton Funeral Home, 322 N. Market Street, Benton, Arkansas. Celebration of Life Memorial will follow at 6:00 PM.
