Jimmie Lynnwood Rosser, 87, of Crescent City, Florida passed away June 8, 2018. He was born October 19, 1930 in Becton, Arkansas to the late Edmond Rupert and Sally May (Halbrooks) Rosser.
Jimmie proudly served in the United States Navy. He retired May 1, 1972 as a Master Chief (E-9) after serving over twenty-four years. During this time, he served on eleven ships: three Destroyers- USS William C. Law DDE 763, USS Harwood DDE861, and USS Loyyd Thomas DDE764; one Destroyer Escort- USS George E. Davis DE357; three Aircraft Carriers: USS Bennington CVS20, USS Bon Homme Richard CVA33, and USS Saratoga CVA60; two Troop Transporters: USS Okanogan APA220 and USS Montrail APA213; one Cargo ship, USS Algon AKA54; and one Supply Ship, USS Mars AFS1. Jimmie worked as the ships' service man. After retired from the military, he worked in retail sales.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Rose (Ardagna) Rosser; three children: Ronald Douglas Rosser, Robert Lewis Rosser, Kenneth Joseph Rosser; and eight siblings.
Jimmie leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Deborah Ann Benenrte; grandchildren: Lisa and William; three great-grandchildren; three sisters: Johnnie W. Hill, Betty E. Sossamon, and Sally May Rosser; and a host of family and friends who love Jimmie and will miss him always.
Graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, June 15, at Cotton Plant Memorial Cemetery in Cotton Plant, Arkansas.
