Joel Baxter Sanford, 79, of Jefferson, Arkansas left his earthly shell on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 with his wife by his side. Joel was born November 24, 1939 in Poyen, AR to the late Garland and Noni (Jones) Sanford.
Joel was a member of River Road Baptist Church. He was an avid hunter and a member of the T-Road Hunting Club. Joel was a proud member of the NRA and he loved the Razorbacks. He retired from AP&L\Entergy after 35 years as a White Bluff Plant Coal Yard Supervisor. He belonged to Lineman Union. He served in the Arkansas National Guard 8 years. He was deployed to the Central High School in 1957. Joel was a football player for Malvern High School. He graduated from Henderson College in Arkadelphia, AR.
Joel was a leader to the Redfield Youth group at River Road Baptist Church. Joel was a world class PRANKSTER. He touched so many lives and will be greatly missed by so many.
Joel is preceded in death by his parents, Noni Adean Jones and Garland B. Sanford. His first wife: Sally (McCray) Sanford; and their son, Stephen Sanford; his baby sister, Kalah Byrd Johnson.
He is survived by his loving wife of twenty-four years, Mona Sanford; Caregivers: daughter and son in law: Lisa and Toby Nutter and grandson and his wife Nick Sanford Daniel and Jennifer Daniel; two sons: Ronald D. Sanford of Jefferson and Joel B. Sanford, Jr. and his wife Teresa of Little Rock; four daughters: Dodie Arena and her husband Chris of Camden, AR and her mother, Linda Walker Sanford, Catherine Morris and Jason of Little Rock, and Leilani Zeller and husband James of Arcadia, CA; daughter-in-law, Tina Sanford Daniel and her husband Kenny; grandchildren Zack and Josh Sanford, Matthew Daniel, Quinn and Keelan Womack, Shannon Sanford, Buck, Dave, Zack and Lydia Morris; Josh, Haleigh, Ashley, Amilya, Autumn, and Stephanie Nutter; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Phyllis Gladdin of Alexander and a host of family and friends who will miss him greatly.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 8 from 4:00-5:00 PM with services directly following at Lone Pine Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Ronnie Meredith officiating.
