Olen West

Olen Ray West, 87, of Benton, Arkansas, passed away September 30, 2019. He was born on May 6, 1932 in Walnut Grove, Arkansas to the late William and Grace West. He was of the Baptist faith and a deacon in several churches. Olen served in the United States Army and was active duty during the Berlin crisis. He worked for the Rock Island Railroad nearly 30 years. He worked at the Counseling Clinic about twenty years. He was also a longtime volunteer at CADC, where he filed free taxes for the elderly and low income.
He is survived by his wife of almost 67 years, Helen Vaughn West; children, B.J. Sorrels (Ken), Nancy Lavender (Mike), Sandra Graber (Alden); grandchildren, Andy Burke (Tammie), Brian Burke (Jenny), Christi Burke, Matthew Graber (Kaylynn), Katie Graber, and Jonathan Lavender; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, four siblings, and daughter, Carolyn Jean Burke.
