Orville Harrison

Orville Glenn (Brew) Harrison, age 102, passed away from the world into God's arms on Tuesday, November 14, 2017. He was born July 28, 1915, to William Milton Harrison and Effie (Bowen) Harrison in Harrison Valley, Missouri. He was the seventh of eight children. He moved to the Baring Cross area in North Little Rock as a 2 year old and spent the next 53 years of his life in North Little Rock.
He married Virginia Agnes Mullen of Little Rock in 1940. They built their first home in Park Hill neighborhood of North Little Rock and moved in December 1, 1941. Pearl Harbor happened one week later.
He served in the Army Air Corps in World War II, reaching the rank of sergent with the 343rd Fighter Group in the Aleutian Islands. He was retired from the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers (Little Rock District), having spent most of his employed life working on the Arkansas River navigation project. Mr. Harrison was a member of the local 204, of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, from January 1962 until June 2001 (39 years). Although only part-time, this was his "fun job," with lots of stories about elephants on elevators and back stage happenings during major productions.
After retirement from the Corps of Engineers, Mr. Harrison and his wife built a home on Lake Hamilton where they lived until Virginia's death in 1997. He continued to live in this home until shortly after his 101 birthday. He gave up yard work and moved to West Shores Senior Living Community in November of 2016.
Mr. Harrison is preceded in death by Virginia Mullen, his wife of 57 years; his grandson, Randolph Glenn Harrison, his parents, and all five of his sisters and two brothers.
He is survived by his son, Russell Glenn Harrison and wife, Sheila; one granddaughter: Christen Harrison Grace, and two great-grandchildren, Evelyn Grace and Logan Grace.
