Pauline Hussey

Celebrating the Life and Faith of
Pauline K. Hussey
December 6th, 1934-October 21st, 2018

A dearly beloved, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, friend and co-worker, was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, but soon moved to Detroit where she, along with her big brother, David J. Gibson, and sister Ora (a.k.a. "Doll") grew up and graduated from Detroit's Pershing High School. There, growing up, negotiating the struggles of life and marriage, raising her children David, Derrick and Regina, she taught them to go to work and get a good education. Independent-minded and determined, though working many jobs to ensure that her children were clothed and fed, Pauline was employed several years as a machine operator for East Detroit's Press Craft Steel Company.
Working didn't overshadow her love of Christ and Gospel music. Having accepted Christ at an early age, blessed with the gift of singing (an extraordinary Soprano with opportunities to sing professionally), she introduced her children to Christ through song and mustered them to churches throughout the city; Galilee Baptist (Rev. Brantley; musician Leonard Duncan) was one of her favorites. Later, during the 70's, with teen-age children in-tow, relocating to Little Rock, she met and married the "love of her life," a hard-working, deer & rabbit hunting, kind and caring native of Dermott, Arkansas, "Poppa" Ray A. Hussey, Sr. He's a "good man" she'd always say.
Blessed for 43 years with a "good man," mother continued to work [for] Timex, Krispy Kreme, and L.R. School District's Baseline Elementary School, secured many friends and used her ability to sing for the glory of God. She was a blessed and active member of FaithWay Baptist Church (LR) where her son (Derrick), serves as pastor.

Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Ruby Gibson-Hall; step-mother, Roberta "Mama Berta" Hall; brother, David J. Gibson; granddaughter, Constance Lynne Low; step-sister, Dorothy Mae Davis; and mother-in-law, Mittie Mae Parker.
Pauline leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of forty-three years, Ray A. Hussey, Sr. of Little Rock; two sons: David Low, Jr. and wife Kim of Detroit, Michigan and Derrick Flowers and wife Ernnie of Little Rock; daughter, Regina M. Wilford and husband George of Little Rock; step-sons: Ray Albert Hussey, Daryl Hussey, and Vincent Hussey all of Dermott, Arkansas; step-daughter, Detria Ellis of Little Rock; eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; sister, Ora Barton -Finch of Los Angeles, California; step-sister, Leola Williams of Little Rock; brothers and sisters-in-law: Davie Maddox and wife Brenda, Nadine Parker (Frank), Johnnie Daniels, and Gloria Parker-Holmes and husband John; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends who love Pauline and will miss her always.
Many thanks to FaithWay Baptist Church, Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, St. Paul Baptist Church-Camden, Arkansas, Union District Baptist Association, Southwest District Association, Greater Little Rock Baptist Pastors and Ministers Conference, Arkansas Consolidated Missionary Baptist State Convention, Hospice Home Care, St. Vincent Hospital, CARTI, Dr. Patel, MEMS, Little Rock Fire Department Station #17, and Little Rock Police Department for the kindness and compassion given to our beloved wife and mother.
"Poppa" we thank God for the tender, loving caring way that you always cared for Momma; bathing her, cooking and feeding her, dressing her for church, taking Momma back & forth to doctors. Momma was right! You are a "Good Man" and we're glad that God brought both of you together. To God be the glory.
