Skipwith Hibblen

Skipwith T. Hibblen of Bryant passed away on January 29, 2019. He was born in Monticello to Frank and Gladys Hibblen August 9, 1943. Skip was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Estrallyn Jones of Lacy, Arkansas. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-two years, Doris Hibblen of Bryant, Arkansas; two sons: Tommy Hibblen of Nashville, Tennessee and Michael Hibblen of Little Rock; one granddaughter, Rylee Dewberry Hibblen, of Texarkana.
Skip attended Monticello public schools and graduated from Arkansas A&M College (UAM) in 1965, and received his Master's degree in 1968. He began a life-long career in education in 1966 in Warren, then Prairie Grove, Arkansas. During his career, he served as elementary and junior high principal in Eudora, and as high school principal in Clarksville, Arkansas, before joining the Arkansas Department of Education as a secondary school supervisor, then as head of the Teacher Licensing Division.
Skip was a life-long musician. He played the drums at many local venues as well as in his high school and college bands.
After retirement, Skip and his wife lived in rural Pulaski county before moving to Bryant where he spent his time playing chess, playing golf, taking care of the lawn, and truly enjoying retirement.
Memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, February 2, Smith-Benton Funeral Home, 322 N. Market Street, Benton, Arkansas.
